Free Trombone Recital - Monday, Aug 22 at NOON

Trombonist Will Lang and pianist Scott Bailey will perform works by Schumann, Brahms, Mozart, Wagenseil, and the premiere of a new work by New York composer Matthew Siffert. Don't miss this exciting concert! Bring a lunch to eat - St. John's will provide drinks and cookies.

Will Lang is a performer, improviser, and teacher in New York City and Boston. He can be found playing in all settings and styles, from the avant-garde and classical to salsa and indie chamber pop. He has given trombone recitals throughout the United States; played concertos with large ensembles; and recorded with artists including Philip Glass and Jónsi (of Sigur Rós).

Free Vocal Recital - Monday, August 15 at noon

On Monday, August 15, soprano Lucy Bergin and pianist Scott Bailey will present a free concert of music by Schumann, Copland, Bellini, and Mozart. The concert begins at noon - audience members are invited to bring a bag lunch to eat. St. John's will provide drinks and cookies.

Lucy Bergin is a senior at Wellesley College and will graduate with a double major in music and German languge and literature in 2012. She studies voice with Gale Fuller. She has just returned from her junior year abroad at the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria. She plans to pursue post-graduate studies in vocal performance, specifically early music.

Free Vocal Recital - Monday, August 8 at noon


Baritone Avery Griffin and pianist Scott Bailey will present a free concert of arias from opera and oratorio on Monday, August 8 at noon as part of the St. John's Summer Concert series. The program will last 45 minutes, and audience members are invited to bring a bag lunch to eat during the concert. St. John's will provide drinks and cookies.

Admission is free; donations to help offset expenses are welcome.

Avery Griffin is a member of the Choir of Men and Boys and St. Thomas in New York City. He has just returned from the Carmel Bach Festival in Californina. He is also a member of the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth which will be in residence at MOCA from August 15 -26.
